Family First is a ministry of St. Brigid of Kildare Parish that seeks to empower parents in their roles as leaders in the home/domestic church. Family First offers insight into all stages of child development and Catholic parenting as well as marriage enrichment. We support the faithful living out of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony as well and seek to encourage families to recognize family life as a true ministry.
Family First currently offers: “Mom to Mom,” a weekly Catholic parenting discussion group, “Make it a Date,” an opportunity to socialize with other married couples after the Saturday evening Mass, to focus on a marriage topic then leave on a date with your spouse to discuss the evening’s topic, “Advent By Candlelight,” an evening for women of the parish to prepare their hearts and minds for Advent, family volunteer opportunities, family enrichment workshops, and links on the parish website of recommended parenting resources.
“The family has a special vocation to be a place where people are loved not for what they do or what they have – but simply because they are.”
“To Live in Christ Jesus,” Pastoral Letter of US Bishops

Current Project: Fall Service Opportunity
If we want to want to help our children thrive during these “unprecedented times” maybe it’s time to love and serve in unprecedented ways. A tangible act brings tangible joy.
We are all called to continue to carry out Jesus´ teachings and treat all people as if they were Christ in disguise.
We ask that you and your family join us in practicing the Corporal Work of Mercy of ¨Visiting the Sick¨ by making snack packs in your home that we will deliver to the families at the Ronald McDonald House. Please click through the following link for detailed instructions on how to participate. We suggest you and your family make around 10 snack packs. Please deliver finished snack packs on October 5th, 6th or 7th to Anne Flock, Anna Blouir or Cheryl Hohlefelder.
Anne Flock, 10300 Summersweet Way, Plain City, OH 43064
Anna Blouir, 5776 Sandymount Dr., Dublin OH 43016
Cheryl Hohlefelder, 8103 Alimoore Green, Dublin
Melanie Pizzino, a member of the Family First Board, used materials produced by the Diocese to create a Family Mission Statement Workshop for our parish. In Fall 2019, a few families tried them out and provided feedback with the goal of sharing them with our members and parish Summer 2020. Thankfully, technology has made it possible to virtually guide you through these materials so that you can conduct your own mission workshop at home with your families! To begin, please click on the Instructions document in the link above.
Family First also relies on the support from the Diocese of Columbus and its Marriage and Family Life Office.
