Family First is a ministry of St. Brigid of Kildare Parish that seeks to empower parents in their roles as leaders in the home/domestic church. Family First offers insight into all stages of child development and Catholic parenting as well as marriage enrichment. We support the faithful living out of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony as well and seek to encourage families to recognize family life as a true ministry.
Family First currently offers: “Mom to Mom,” a weekly Catholic parenting discussion group, “Make it a Date,” an opportunity to socialize with other married couples after the Saturday evening Mass, to focus on a marriage topic then leave on a date with your spouse to discuss the evening’s topic, “Advent By Candlelight,” an evening for women of the parish to prepare their hearts and minds for Advent, family volunteer opportunities, family enrichment workshops, and links on the parish website of recommended parenting resources.
Lent begins February 26th! Please join Family First/Mom to Mom for a special Lenten DVD series starting Tuesday, March 3rd. “The Mass” DVD program by Edward Sri is a five-part series that reveals the meaning behind the Biblical words and gestures we experience during Mass. Take a tour of the Liturgy and learn to see everything in a new light!
Mom to Mom is excited to offer weekly both morning and afternoon sessions through the Lenten season! Led by Kathy Kelly, the morning group will meet in the Church basement on Tuesdays, 9:30 to 11 am. Please sign up for childcare on the signup genius below. Kim VanHuffel will facilitate the afternoon sessions starting on Wednesday March 4th, 1:15 to 2:45 pm, in the Church basement. There will be no childcare available for the Wednesday meetings.
Neither group will meet the week of March 22nd due to spring break. Please feel free to contact Erin Heise at firstname.lastname@example.org or Gretchen O’Reilly at email@example.com if you have any questions.
“The family has a special vocation to be a place where people are loved not for what they do or what they have – but simply because they are.”
