St. Brigid Receives LifeCare Alliance’s Community Service Spirit Award
Congratulations to Jim Whitmer and Nancy Davis
LifeCare Alliance is thrilled to recognize St. Brigid of Kildare as their Community Service Spirit Award Winner. Each year they present this award to an individual or group to recognize their long-term commitment to the agency and the clients they serve.
As stated at the LifeCare Alliance Volunteer Recognition event on April 19th, “This year’s honoree truly practices what they preach. Saint Brigid, for whom Saint Brigid of Kildare Parish was named, was best known for her concern for the poor and the hungry. The partnership between the students, parents, and parishioners and our agency to serve our homebound seniors could not be more fitting.
Between the two Meals-on-Wheels coordinators, Nancy Davis and Jim Whitmer, St. Brigid delivers meals Monday through Friday every week. Some days even delivering 2 routes. They are dependable and integral in getting meals delivered in the Dublin area. In the past 5 years, they have volunteered over 2,500 hours delivering hot nutritious meals to our clients.”
St. Brigid has been delivering Meals-on-Wheels since April of 2017. St. Brigid volunteers deliver multiple different routes each week. Nancy Davis and Jim Whitmer both recruit and train new volunteers. They are very reliable and Meal-on-Wheels never has to worry about those meals getting to the clients on the days their groups are scheduled.
In addition, Todd and Nancy Davis have been extraordinary in going above and beyond to serve the homebound clients. They have faithfully run a totally volunteer-driven service called “Stems for Seniors” and regularly repurpose flowers from weddings/events and prepare bouquets that get delivered with Meals-on-Wheels to brighten up the lives of homebound neighbors!
Thank you to Jim Whitmer and Nancy Davis who spearhead this volunteer opportunity, as well as all of our volunteer drivers!
