Men’s Inception Retreat – Dec 9

By | Events, Prayer | No Comments

From parishioner & St. Brigid parent Sean White:
I am humbled to be the MC at this year’s St. Brigid Men’s Inception Retreat on Dec 9th held at St. Therese Retreat Center. There is room for 50 men at this 1 day retreat, that personally changed my faith life in 2010, after about 10 yrs of taking up space in a pew. More on that at the retreat!

We’ll have dinner, hear a lay witness talk from 2 of our parishioners, have some talks with our clergy, fellowship, and a few other parts ending with 5pm Mass on Saturday, home in time for parties and back with the family.

You’ll have your own room and meals, coffee, snacks are provided. The theme of this retreat is “becoming a better version of yourself”.

I’d like to invite you to attend. From my experience, it’s a great way to end your year and prepare for the next. Nothing but good things come out of this 24 hrs. It’s a short, impactful time to awaken, renew, or grow your faith.

Click here for the registration form.

Bring a friend! Hope to see you there! Sean White, Parishioner

Join our Advent Parish Mission Dec 4-6: “In the Tender Mercy of Our God”

By | Prayer | No Comments

parish-mission-jimmy-and-annEvery moment of the Advent Parish Mission will be supported by scripture, story, sacred song and dynamic preaching as Sr. Ann and Fr. Jim invite all of St. Brigid of Kildare to trustingly bask “in the Tender Mercy of Our God.”

Since the beginning of time God has been trying to convince humanity of Divine tenderness, compassion, and a mercy beyond imagination. Jesus Christ, heralded for centuries and born among us as one of us, embodied living proof of God’s faithful forgiveness and unconditional love. In this grand 21st century church of ours, His Holiness Pope Francis epitomizes what God has been trying to teach the world for ages and ages.

We will be visited by preachers, Sr. Ann Willits, OP and Rev. Jim Marchionda, OP – Dominicans who wholeheartedly embrace this glorious gift of God and refreshing, joyful vision and witness of Pope Francis.

Sunday, December 4, 2016 – Tuesday, December 6, 2016
7:00 PM each evening in the church
The last evening will end with a prayer concert in the church followed by a social (to meet the preachers) in Hendricks Hall.
We will also have available books and CDs authored by the preachers.

Meet the Preachers

Father Jim Marchionda, OP, is a Dominican priest, preacher, composer, conductor, singer and woodwind instrumentalist. He offers parish missions, workshops, and concerts throughout the United States and abroad. Composer of more than 100 published sacred musical pieces, Father Jim’s unique ministry successfully combines preaching with a professional career in sacred music.

Sister Ann Willits, OP, a Dominican Sister from Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, is a preacher, author, poet, humorist and expert storyteller. Ann takes the simple stuff of life and makes it extraordinary. Her diverse audiences find laughter and fancy in her words as they meet the many faces of God through her gift of preaching.

When these two unique personalities get together, they will build up spiritual strength in the heart of the artist and art lover through their thoughtful, joy-filled delivery of Gospel truths.
