Obituary for Ruth Ann Black
Ruth Ann Black (mother of Fr. Black), age 89, passed away on June 2, 2026 at Saint Ann Hospital. She was a graduate of Holy Cross Grade School and St. Mary High School. Ruth was a longtime member of St. Leo Church, a volunteer at Saint Leo bingo, Wehrle High School and a proud South Ender. She was a 22 year employee of Thurn’s Bakery. Preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, parents Thomas and Louise Bates, brother Paul Bates. Ruth was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Tim (Teresa), Fr. Jim Black, Don, Cheryl, Craig (Debbie), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation Monday, June 8 from 3 to 7 PM at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St, Columbus 43206. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at St Leo Church, 221 Hanford Street. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Father Jim Black Celebrant.
