Confirmation is the Sacrament of Initiation which imparts to the candidate or confirmandi, the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Confirmation completes the initiation of those who have been baptized. The usual minister of the sacrament of Confirmation is the bishop. In the absence of the bishop, he may designate the pastor or other priest to administer the sacrament. Through Confirmation the Gifts of the Holy Spirit come more fully into the person’s life. These gifts are wisdom, understanding, counsel or right judgment, fortitude or courage, knowledge, holiness or piety or reverence, and fear of the Lord or wonder and awe in the Lord. During the Rite of Confirmation each candidate is asked to renew their Baptismal Promises. The Rite of Confirmation includes laying on of hands and anointing with Sacred Chrism. Each candidate is to be accompanied by a Confirmation Sponsor.

As part of Confirmation preparation, students in grades 7-8 work to complete 25 hours of approved service activities prior to their Confirmation in the spring of their 8th grade year.  7th and 8th graders are required to fill out this form for all confirmation service hours and turn the completed forms into the Religious Education Office.  To download a Service Hour Form: Service Hour Form
